This guide is for adults 18 and over.
A good profile does two jobs. It attracts people who want what you want, and it quietly screens out people who do not. If you like to lead, you can use that second job to your advantage: say clearly what you are looking for, and the right people will recognize themselves.
Before you write: know what you want
Spend five minutes on these questions.
- What kind of connection am I looking for? Casual, ongoing, long-term?
- What does "leading" mean to me? Light and playful, or more structured?
- What do I enjoy? Role reversal, pegging, role play, something else?
- What are my hard limits?
- What do I want in a partner, as a person?
Clear answers make everything below easier.
Your headline
Short, confident and specific beats clever and vague.
- "Confident woman who likes to lead. Looking for a man who likes to follow."
- "Warm, direct and in charge of the plans. Seeking a partner who enjoys that."
- "I know what I want. Curious if you want it too?"
Avoid: all-caps demands, insults, or anything that sounds like a rulebook.
Your "about me"
Aim for four short paragraphs.
- Who you are. Work, interests, humor. People are partners first.
- What you enjoy. Be honest and plain. "I like taking the lead, in and out of the bedroom" says plenty.
- What you are looking for. The kind of man, the kind of connection, the pace.
- How to approach you. This one is underrated. "Message me with something you have read in my profile and tell me a little about yourself" screens out copy-paste messages.
Tone: warm, direct, a little playful. Being firm is not the same as being cold.
What to include
- A clear line about what you enjoy.
- A line about what you want from a partner: respect, honesty, reliability.
- A note on consent. "Limits and communication matter to me" is attractive and sets expectations.
- A sense of humor.
What to leave out
- Long lists of rules and demands. They read as intimidating and attract the wrong people.
- Humiliating language aimed at strangers, unless you are sure it suits your audience. Many men want respect first.
- Complaints about past partners.
- Explicit detail. Save it for conversation, once you have agreed what you are both comfortable with.
- Identifying information. No surname, address, workplace or phone number.
Photos
- You decide whether to show your face. Many women use a face photo plus others that show style or personality. Others choose a cropped or stylish shot. Both are valid.
- Use recent, clear pictures. Natural light helps.
- Show personality. A hobby, a smile, an outfit you feel good in.
- Keep it tasteful. Suggestive is fine. If you include more, remember that anything you post can be copied, and think about what you would be comfortable with in the wrong hands.
- Check your background. Street signs, mail or workplace badges can give away more than you mean to.
Verification and trust
If the site offers an ID verification badge, consider using it. It tells others that your profile is real, and it reassures the men who are looking for honest partners. Ratings and responsiveness badges also help people judge each other fairly.
Privacy and boundaries
- Share personal details slowly. See our safety tips.
- Keep early conversations on the site.
- Agree limits before you meet. See Consent, Boundaries and Stop Signals.
- Meet in public first and tell a friend.
- A request for money is a red flag. See How to Spot Scams on Adult Dating Sites.
Sample profile
"Warm, direct and a bit in charge. I run a small business, love long dinners and terrible puns, and I like to be the one who decides what happens next, in and out of the bedroom. I'm looking for a man who enjoys following, who is honest about what he wants and what he doesn't, and who knows that respect goes both ways. Limits and communication matter to me. If you've read this far, tell me one thing you're curious about and one thing you're not. I'll write back to the ones who make me smile."
Change the details to fit you. Your profile should sound like you, not a template.
After you post
- Reply to the good messages. Do not feel obliged to answer every one.
- Ignore or block the rude ones. You never owe a response.
- Update your profile. Refresh it every few weeks.
- Read First Message Examples for ideas on starting conversations.

Frequently asked questions
Do I have to say I am dominant in my profile?
No. Use the words you are comfortable with. "I like to lead" or "I'm in charge of the plans" works as well as any label.
Should I show my face?
It is your choice. A face photo often builds trust, but plenty of members use other photos. Think about your privacy and who might see it.
How explicit should my profile be?
Not very. Describe what you enjoy in plain terms and save detail for conversation.
How do I avoid time-wasters?
Say what you want clearly, ask for a specific kind of message, and ignore anyone who does not follow it.
What should I do if someone is disrespectful?
Stop replying, block them and report the profile if it crosses a line.
