The short answer
No. Enjoying pegging, or being curious about it, does not make a man gay or bisexual. Sexual orientation describes who you are attracted to romantically and sexually. Pegging describes something you might do or enjoy. The two are not the same thing.
Pegging is, by definition, something a woman does with a male partner. If you are attracted to women and enjoy being with a woman who does this, nothing about that changes who you are attracted to.

Why people think it does
The worry usually comes from a few ideas:
- "Anal sex is a gay thing." Plenty of straight people have anal sex. It is an act, not an identity.
- "A man who enjoys being penetrated must be attracted to men." Sensation and attraction are separate. The body responds to touch whatever the person's orientation.
- Old stereotypes about masculinity. Some people were taught that men should only give, never receive. Those stereotypes say more about culture than about anyone's sexuality.
What is going on in the body
The anus has many nerve endings, and the prostate, a gland men have, sits a few inches inside, toward the front of the body. Stimulating it can feel pleasurable to many men. That is physiology. It does not reflect the gender of the person you want to be with.
Not every man enjoys it, and that is also normal. Neither response says anything about orientation.
Orientation, behavior and identity are different
It helps to separate three things:
- Attraction. Who you are drawn to.
- Behavior. What you do or enjoy.
- Identity. The label, if any, you choose for yourself.
They can overlap, but they do not have to. A straight man can be curious about pegging. A gay or bisexual man can also enjoy it. Some people prefer not to use any label. All of this is fine.
What if you are also attracted to men?
For some men, curiosity about pegging happens alongside attraction to men. For others, it does not. If you notice feelings you want to understand, that is completely valid. You do not have to decide anything quickly, and you do not have to label yourself because of what you enjoy.
Pegging Date is open to every orientation. Whether you are straight, gay, bisexual or still working it out, you are welcome.
If you feel anxious or confused
Many men carry shame about this, especially if they were raised to see it as "not manly". If you feel anxious:
- Remember you are not alone. Many people are curious.
- Talk to someone you trust. A partner or close friend, if you feel safe.
- Consider a sex-positive therapist. A counselor experienced in sexuality can help you sort through feelings, without judging.
- Take your time. There is no deadline for understanding yourself.
Pressure from others, or from yourself, makes it harder.
If you are the partner
If your partner has told you they are curious about pegging:
- Thank them for trusting you. Sharing this takes courage.
- Do not jump to conclusions. It does not say anything about whether they are attracted to you.
- Ask questions. "What appeals to you?" "What would make it feel good for you?"
- You can say no. You do not have to do anything you do not want to.

Frequently asked questions
Does pegging make a man gay?
No. Pegging does not change or reveal sexual orientation. Straight, gay, bisexual and other men may all enjoy it, or not.
Is it normal for a straight man to be curious about pegging?
Yes. Many straight men are curious about it. Curiosity is common and does not mean anything about who you are attracted to.
Why does it feel good if it is not about being gay?
The body has many nerve endings in the area, and the prostate can be stimulated through it. That is physical response, separate from attraction.
What if I enjoy it and I'm worried about what it means?
Nothing needs to be "decided". If the worry is weighing on you, a sex-positive therapist can help you talk it through.
Can women and non-binary people enjoy pegging?
Yes. Anyone can give or receive, and everyone is welcome on Pegging Date.
